4 Resolutions for Pet Owners

Adult Tan and White French Bulldog

Our lives are enriched by the company of our pets, day in and day out we always know they’ll be there for us. One thing we can do for them is setting resolutions in the new year that help the both of you break bad habits and live healthier lives in 2019.

Set a Grooming Routine
Sometimes we may not give our pet’s coat or fur our fullest attention, but with a routine set in place it will get easier to maintain. Not every cat or dog needs a thorough brushing every single day, but you should plan to set aside time at least once or twice a week to give your pets a quick brush.

Follow-up Training
Throughout the year, you may have helped your dog learn a few new tricks, but you may have forgotten to follow-up training and reinforced their new tricks or behaviors. In 2019, make sure you remind your pets daily of the new things they’ve learned to ensure they don’t forget.

Cleanliness is Key
When it comes to keeping your pet healthy, sometimes they can’t do it alone. Everything your dog or cat comes in contact with should be frequently cleaned and sanitized to prevent illness. This includes bedding, floors and rugs, toys and food and water dishes. Make sure you have a set routine in the upcoming year that will help you stay on top of cleaning these items.

Set Vet Reminders
Preventative care is a huge part of your pet’s overall health and saves lives every year. Not every vet visit has to be an emergency visit or comes with a list of symptoms. Ensure you have annual reminders to visit your vet to check for any underlying issues. Doing so can save you time and money in the long run, not to mention add peace of mind in the new year!

We love to see pet owners make conscious decisions to better the lives of their pets every year. Let January set the tone for the rest of the year by sticking to your own resolutions! If you have any questions for the team at Laveen Vet Center, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
