Summertime Treats for Dogs

It's hot and it's going to be hot for awhile here in the Valley. As humans, we are always looking for ways to cool ourselves down in the summer months, but what about our dogs? There is nothing better than an ice cream on a hot day, but when it comes to our dogs, they can't have those kind of treats, so we've rounded up some summertime slushies just for dogs!

Frozen Peanut Butter Banana Treats
It doesn’t get any easier than this recipe from Life, Love and Sugar. Frozen bananas + peanut butter + blender = heaven. Doubles as a human treat, too! Serve immediately, or pour into ice cube trays for a cool treat in a pinch.

Frozen Blueberry Treats
Blueberries, yogurt, and a spoonful of honey come together to create this delicious treat from the Scrumptious Pumpkin (again, great for humans, too!) in a matter of minutes. Pro tip: Buy frozen blueberries to speed up the process.

Pupsicles
Nothing like meat broth on a hot day, unless, of course, you’re a dog. Pick up some low-sodium beef, chicken, or vegetable broth, add in 2/3 cup water, shake and freeze!

Pumpkin Pops
Blend pumpkin puree with wet dog food and water, then place in the freezer until it’s the perfect consistency, or freeze in trays.

Cheeseburger Pops
Another savory option for when your furry friend needs something salty. Crumble ground beef into an ice cube tray, sprinkle with cheese, then fill with broth and freeze. Pop ’em and eat ’em at will, or blend the whole thing into a cheeseburger smoothie. Yum?
