You may see a million commercials talking about different kinds of dog foods, but sometimes cats owners are left in the dark! We take the health of every kind and breed of animal very seriously so we did the research for you.
First you must know, cats operate at three stages of life; kitten, adult, and senior. That changes up their diet completely! See what we are talking about in the blog post below….
They need a high in protein and fat diet to help develop their bones, muscles, and teeth. It helps convert into energy when they are older.
They have a lower calorie diet with the consideration of weight control. Cats can become overweight, just like humans, and it can cause many different health issues. Unless your cat is pregnant or nursing, it will not require a high calorie diet.
They are more sedentary and need a low-fat diet with proteins they can digest and process easier. The best thing you can do is focus on the label
Reading the Label
Here are the basic ingredients you should look out for: proteins (beef, lamb, turkey, chicken, tuna), Taurine (amino acid), vitamins, minerals, and water.
You may see preservatives because that is what keeps it fresh and you may see fillers including corn and wheat. Better quality brands have less of that. Always check on the expiration date as well!
Foods to avoid: byproducts, meat/bone meal, added sugars, dangerous chemicals (BHA), corn meal, and carbohydrate fillers.
